Balls Bridge Ontario 1885.

A two-span, pin-connected, Pratt through truss iron bridge. It’s one of the oldest bridges of its’ kind in Ontario Canada. Design and material used (wrought-iron) is extremely rare.

It's beautiful!

The bridge is set in a pristine, untouched, area of the Maitland River.
Slated to silently deteriorate and to fall into oblivion after it’s closure in 2006, a grassroots movement together with local municipalities managed to save it.

This web site is dedicated to the history of Balls Bridge, its demise and subsequent restoration.

Also, should you find yourself visiting Huron County along Lake Huron, make sure you drive the short distance from Goderich along Little Lakes Road and cross the Maitland river on Ball’s Bridge!
